These are red herrings. I am not of course trying to make the point that the springs should be kept off the internet. This forum would have to go away if that were the case, many learn about the springs here. I learned much about the springs here back in the day. After first learning about the springs in Lee Baxandall's nude guide when I was a teenager. And then in general travel guide books to SoCal back when folks used to use them. Only graduating to the major hot springs guides later. The cat is long out of the bag for those who care about hot springs.
I would always advocate that one must work with the times not fantasize they are not what they are - this forum engages in a dialogue online about the springs and does so to help the area, help the springs, and care for the place.
I am simply pointing out that this campsite website is a new thing and seeks to make money off the springs. If you are going to do that, if you are going to cause even more traffic and camping in the area, you need to be doing so responsibly and with concrete investment in caring for the national forest land that your business will impact. The income is potentially significant. You are charging $10/person, in the warmer weather you attract a group of 100 on the weekend, maybe 200 over the course of a weekend - you are making $2000/week. That is what we are talking about. You will then be flooding the springs with many newbies who will party and think you are the caretaker of the springs (so many newbies always used to call the place "Bowen Ranch Hot Springs," and think they were on his land the whole time). And the place will be trashed.
Or you care for the place and weed out the idiots. One can always hope. We will have to see.
