Normally I follow Bowen ranch rd. to the power line rd. to access The freedom trail head. As I turned onto Power line rd. A small suv had turned there in front of me.
so I asked if they were lost, Two pretty ladies said no they were turning around to go to the springs. Had they been there before ? No they said, I told them if they followed me I would show them the way to the freedom trail head. They were from Kentucky and were happy to go for free. They said.
So it was @ 2:30 when we got to the trail. There was no wind and it was About 80 degrees. There were six vehicles and a couple on a motorcycle in the parking lot.I could not see any vehicles parked on the Bowen ranch parking area. I told the girls that this was a sign that the springs may not be too crowded. I was wrong. We saw @ 12 people leaving as we arrived. And there were @ 40-50 people having a good time. About 8 people there who were Pacific trail through hikers on the south bound trail. They were all couples and were camping in tents up stream. Almost all the rest had come from the Bradford ridge path. I talked to no one who came from the Bowen ranch path. There was no trash any where. But I did find some empty beer cans in the bottom of the Womb pool. The pools were much cooler than on my previous visits. Hippy Dave was the only regular I saw. I am always happy to see him in his element. As the sun began to set almost all went for the Bradford ridge path. ? Me and the girls from Kentucky hiked out as the almost full moon meant we did not need our flash lights. The girls were on a mission and had to be in San Francisco by morning. They said. I told them I was happy to be their tour guide as the left with big hugs. I had intended to camp at the Freedom trail head. Fell asleep after a short hike in the full moon. Woke up at 3 am and started to panic about all the chores I had on my property and my poor dogs missing breakfast ? what to do. I fired my engine up and headed home. As I got to the Bowen ranch I saw where 2 Trailer homes were parked on a hill just behind and on the north west side of the ranch. The moon was still out and I could see where they had cut the fence back and moved dirt around. One of the vehicles was a big jacked up jeep. The other was a big Lincoln looking like car. The Bowen ranch was completely dark. When I got to where Bowen ranch road meets the side rd. some one had bull dosed the road to make it easier to get their trailers through. VERY interesting I thought and wonder WHAT IS GOING ON ???
HAS the ranch gone out of his mind ?
