Our daughter went with a friend today to the springs, using the Bowen Ranch for parking. She told me about the $10 per person charge. She said a lot of the people at DCHS were talking about the changes happening at the Bowen Ranch. I wonder what was up with needing three helicopters to rescue one person with an ankle injury? Sounds like the Freedom Trail and Bradford Trail will be getting more usage now because of the fee increase and no camping at the Bowen Ranch changes. Regarding this " Mike said he tried to shut down his place ", now that he has a fence around his property, and apparently a more substantial gate at the building entrance spot, why can't he just put up a " closed " sign? Seems to me the word would get out pretty quickly ( social media, etc ) that the Bowen Ranch was not open for access to DCHS anymore. Its not like he is required to let people park on his private property. As far as I know camping is allowed in the surrounding BLM and USFS lands, apart from the no camping and day use regulations a mile on each side of Deep Creek.
