I have seen over the years various trails, those frequented by horses, and cattle, and ones ridden by mountain bikes. The livestock damage the trails a lot, especially when the ground has been softened up by rain. On the other hand mountain bike tires don't do much to trails. For me, I hike across landscapes regularly where there are no trails, in places that livestock or mountain bikes cannot go. Steep hillls, rocky terrain, off the beaten path smiling smiley
