There is an article about this in our local high desert Daily Press newspaper this evening. There is a part ;that says the one man last saw his brother swimming in one of the larger pools " at " DCHS. The only hot pool you could swim across, maybe two strokes would be the Womb so this deceased man may have been swimming in the large creek pool in front of the hot pools. The hot pools are shallow except the Womb which is about 7 foot deep and its water is clear so any body in that pool would be easily seen. The article says the man enlisted the help of other hikers to look for his lost brother. You would think one of the first places they would look is in the hot pools. So why did they not find the man floating in one of the hot pools then. Apparently the way I understand it he was found floating only later by law enforcement. Also there was probably other people at the hot springs that would have seen the man floating in the hot pool before law enforcement showed up. The story as told sounds unlikely/fishy to me.
