I wasn't there yesterday but was told about the crowd, the biggest some friends had seen. I wanted to come to help with the clean up crew and volunteers. They got help from the Forest Service, who arranged to have some of their people there too, and a truck on the road below the first hill down from Bowen to take all the trash out.
I was told the Rangers came down 2x actually. At the end of the day they hiked down again, and escorted everyone out from the springs before sundown. This is good to hear. I imagine they chose this weekend based on what happened a few years back with the so-called "terrorist" event on Easter.
The volunteers found a gun (gulp) during their clean up, and lots and lots of trash.
