Yikes Denali/Mohave, what an ordeal you went through! I was contacted recently through the DCV website ( I answer any questions sent there ) by a guy who had a long soak with his friend at DCHS and afterwards he and his friend experienced a real bad, two day case of the rash caused by a natural organism ( google hot tub follicultis ) that lives in the hot pools. Certain pools are more of a problem in this regard than others. In my experience closer to the hot source and less algae will give you less chance of getting the rash, and of course less exposure too. Some folks are not affected, like some people are not susceptible to Poison Oak rashes. The person who got the rash was asking if I could update a section at DCV ( under FAQS ) that discussed the rash. I did send Ralph ( the webmaster of DCV ) some new content to replace the old, that indicates that possibilities of getting this rash is still a problem that can affect some folks after long soaks in the hot pools I myself have had a very uncomfortable rash on some occasions. I have learned how to avoid it for the most part now. This year I just got some minor itching after a fairly long soak in the Womb, other than that no problems with it.
