Joe, you don't go anywhere near Big Bear to get to the Bradford Ridge trail head. On the 210 FWY, just east of where it crosses the 215FWY, you take the road into the mountains, I think its HWY 18 that goes up to the Crestline area, then the shortest way is to work your way through the little community of Grass Valley which is east of Lake Arrowhead, then go north to reach HWY 173 and continue northwesterly on it until it reaches the Kinley Creek bridge. It is pavement all the way to there, and if you were to continue 200 yards or less further the road turns to dirt and is closed. The 4 and a half mile section of HWY 173 leading down into the desert has been closed for a few years now. Also, I don't think the more remote section of HWY173 that you travel past Grass Valley down to the Kinley Creek bridge is normally graded, so if there is snow that could definitely be a problem depending on what your are driving.
