A simple soultion which would greatly reduce problems in the Deep Creek area would be a ban on the possession and consumption of alcohol. This was done in the Big Falls area of the SBNF and the result was a big reduction in vandalism and other incidents. Many hikers were returning from the San Gregornio wilderness area only to find their cars broken into or gone.
A ban on alcohol discourages the out of control crowd that ruins the place for everyone.Anyone who remembers accessing the hotsprings from the spillway knows the horror stories of rampant car vandalism that occured there. The solution was to close the entire area and it remains closed today.
I cant count the times that drunken perverted slobs have expediated my departure from the springs.A ban on firearms would also eliminate the scary gun issue.Increased enforcement is also a must...but....I do know that the law enforcement agencies do not want to continuously be running down there. If its a continuous problem, they will simply close it down.
The spirit of Gary the Growler infects this website as its primary purpose seems to be the continuation of a long running fued involving Katrina's domestic partner.I think its time to let go of all that and work toward constructive resolution and preservation of our ability to enjoy Deep Creek Hot Springs. This personal vendetta is like a cancer,it haunts those involved eating them away on long sleepless nights. The revenge you plot is your own demise.Let go and let God.
