Here's the advantage. As we have to fly into most destinations and never check our luggage in, all the camping stuff including backpack fits perfectly into one side of the carry-on and the other side we use for dressier clothes to be able to still hit the town for dinner or whatever. One carry-on plus a minimal sleeve for a MacBook Air 11; two people. I sometimes see guys with their wives/girlfriends with enough luggage that you'd think they are going on a deep sea expedition to the Titanic. I did have to spend a lot of time convincing my girlfriend on how to travel light though, why you don't need certain items, that hotels if we use them have laundry and if not, there is the sink, etc. Mind you I usually fly twice a week and having been doing it for over 14 years.
