This was my first time to DCHSs and is my first time posting on the board. Though I've been lurking for a few weeks.

I drove in from Studio City. Not a bad drive because its reverse of the rush hour traffic. My only problem was following the driving directions to the Bradford Ridge Trail, from another site, were wrong. But luckily cell reception in the area is surprisingly good so I was able to find the correct directions.

Freehiked the Bradford Ridge Trail for about 30 minutes until I started to lose confidence in my Copper Tone. The trail it self is pretty uneventful and I know its been said elsewhere on this forum but to those who are planning taking the BRT, you will be under the full sun 97 percent of the hike. And it was hot. I could have used more liquids. Also, someone else had mentioned killer bees close to the trailhead. I think they're just regular bees. But I did move quickly past them. Didn't see any rattlesnakes. But did have some biting flies on the way back until I stopped and put some repellent on. I took what I think was the more direct route which is pretty straight down a large hill to a dried creek bed. Not so bad going down but a killer coming back up. I bike to work everyday and hike a moderate amount and my legs are very sore today. I think I'll take the other route if I go tomorrow. Planning too, but it depends on my legs.

The creek itself and the pools where awesome. There was about 25 to 30 people there. About 60-70 percent were nude. I was glad to see that because that was one of the main reasons I wanted to go. Though on the hike down I had resolved to go nude even if I was the only one. I've been a naturist since I was a teen and I wanted to experience DCHS as it should be. I still don't understand board shorts, especially in a place like this. But to each their own. I was also surprised how relatively trash free it was. I picked up some and took it with me. But after reading some msgs on this board I feared it would look like a landfill. Also didn't see any broken glass. Overall decent crowd ranging from friendly to keeping to themselves. Again to each their own.

Has anyone done the less steep part of the BRT? I was curious which way is it. I'm planning on going tomorrow and might take it on the way back to my truck.

Thanks

John
