What planet are YOU from? No one says you "must" pay ANYONE for parking. We pay Mike cuz it's convenient and no one in their right mind would dare to vandalize cars where they could be spotted and TRAPPED on Mike's property. Get it? It's a CHOICE. One CHOOSES to park on Mike's land for OBVIOUS REASONS: CONVENIENCE, CONVENIENCE, CONVENIENCE, and peace of Mind. That's gotta be worth at least 4 bucks. Can't afford 4 bucks? Is this a case of Champagne taste on a beer budget? Anyone can afford 4 bucks if they can afford to get there in the first place!
And on what planet do the police roam thru the deserts LOOKING for potential vandals? ESP is not one of the requirements of Law Enforcement nor the Forest Service, as far as I know -- in other words, mind reading is not a prerequisite to be a public servant. Your expectation that they SHOULD have done something BEFORE the incident even happened is kinda wierd. Maybe you should call your local gov't representative and ask for a few hundred more BLM & Sheriff officials to patrol the entire San Bernardino Mountains. But don't complain when your Adventure Pass costs you $60 instead of $6 when that happens.
Just as wierd is the idea that you'd even WANT law enforcement hanging around the Springs.
