Normally they are very shy. Seems like they are getting bolder. I was riding my bicycle in the Bradford trailhead area on 173 when I encountered one just after dusk. Think it was a he, but he snarled at me as I was going around a corner and without too much trouble stepped up my pace a bit. That was in fall time 2012. Since then it appeared to be the same male about 4:30 AM at my cabin in Twin Peaks summer of 2013. Since I have a spring on my property, it appears he was just thirsty, but still kind of made me a little more cautious. Another one that kept hounding me last spring near Ontario Peaks was finally shot by Fish and Game made me disappointed because he was so beautiful. They deserve respect in my opinion.
