My first visit to Deep Creek Hot Springs was on Memorial Day, 1970. I was entranced by the beauty of the canyon and the creek and by the hot pools. I also noticed that the many people there were kids in their teens and twenties and just about all were completely naked. There were also a couple of men in their mid fifties who'd been visiting the place since the early 1950s. The wives of the men were also there, not at the creek, but sitting up on the PCT, but they were clothed and turned their heads when any nude folks walked nearby.
