I typically do a lot of research before buying outdoor gear and when I do I keep it for a very long time. Recently I picked up a pair of pants that use the newer eVent technology that goes head to head with the more established Gore-Tex fabrics. In short, very impressed - does a noticeably better job of keeping moisture away during fast paced hiking or running. Still not ready to replace my old Arc'teryx jacket but it's nice to see great alternatives. This article is one of the best I came across that describes the details very well behind today's gear.
