I would be tempted to camp at Crab Flats, although it's a bit of a drive ... 29 miles from Silverwood Lake ... but why not as there are plenty of things to do near Lake Arrowhead in the evenings. It's free during the winter although I'm not sure what the road conditions are to get there and if a permit is still required. The ranger station will know. More importantly, you have toilets and fire rings, important especially now with dry conditions.
