Mohave,
I get it. Finding a good woman is kinda like going to the great outdoors, you never know what you will find. Just try to be ready for it, no matter the what.
As for the canoe trips:
The adventure companies put into the river @ 1/4 of a mile down river from a cable which is across the river that says; DANGER DO NOT CROSS ; seroius injury or death might occur.
That is good enough reason for me. There are security cameras on you so be aware.
When you are leaving the area you should ask the guy helping you to show you were the sauna cave is. It is @ 1/2 of a mile downstream and on your right. About 1000 yards before the Gold Stike canyon which is on your right also. Sometimes I dream about being there. The Sauna cave has a small pool in the frount to soak in. The cave goes back 60 feet. it is about 4 1/2 feet tall and round. The dam builders were going to divert the Colorado river through there. But the hot springs caused them to move up stream with the dam. It is @ 50 feet above the river but not hard to get to.
After you experiance Gold Strike canyon look on your left hand side for a waterfall. It is only @ 1/4 mile down stream. Above the waterfall is Lone Palm hot springs. I used to keep a shovel with me to dig the sand out of there. The Palm tree that gave the place the name was @ 200 feet tall. It was hit by lightening back in '08. Now several small palm trees are springing up there. It has a unique canyon to explore.
To find the hot spring, park your canoe near the small palm trees. Then hike over the small hill and go up stream. The pool is @ 40 feet above the river on a steep cliff. It has a great view of the river. And it's fun to set under the hot waterfall below. Most of the time you will have the place to yourself.
When going I prefer Black canyon river adventures. Because I met the owner who was paying his employees to pick up the trash in G.S.canyon. I used his company @ 12 times. I also became friends with some of his employees. I heard he sold his company but now some of his employees are owners. I liked them all very much. They tried to hire me as a river guide. But I told them I made too much money to do that.
My advise is to take your time. The river will always wait for you.
Paul,
Excellent pictures. How recent are they ?
The pool you call Nevada h.s. is what I call the Grotto pool. If you look up hill when setting in the pool the gray rocks look similar to the Grotto pool on the Playboy mansion. Also just up hill and on the other side of the canyon is a small hot tub. Most people miss it. And, just up hill from the cave pool and on the right side is a pool I call the Privacy pool. It is behind a large boulder and most people will walk right past you and not know you are there.
Thanks for taking me back in time ...
