If you can see past the casinos there are some great outdoor places to explore. I would pick this place for the winter, San Diego during the summer and Tahoe both seasons as the places to be. My favorite small town on our shores is still Telluride but so difficult to get to, but then that's one of the many reasons it's so desirable.
