The one you have labelled as cave of wonder is as far as we got. I could have sworn there were two pools above it though or maybe I was seeing things. Anyhow, at that location I think we were still about a mile from the river, could be wrong.
Yes, the first photo I posted is one of the pools ABOVE the Cave of Wonder. The third photo are the lower pools AFTER the cave of wonder. These require more rope rapelling and a steeper, more challenging descent, but once you get to those pools, its a real short distance to the river.
I agree with Jobe, renting a boat would be the best way to explore the lower pools. I suppose kayaking upsream is alsopossible, but you'd be fighting the current. During low water, probably not much of a problem. But my understanding is the Dam releases water in the morning, so the current would then be stronger. I think there are also other springs along the way -Boy Scout??
