Thanks for the report. I don't think the garbage problem will ever be solved. It's easy to carry stuff in, not as easy to carry out so people just leave it, or litter the trail. I mentioned in an old post that one of the best kept trails I have seen are the ones around Paul's home city near Torrey Pines, where they prevent you from taking ANY food or drink other than water. For water, they sometimes have a station set up so you can buy a container and then they supply the refillable water, hence no plastic bottles.
Speaking of home cities, this is totally off topic but it made me laugh. I grew up in Toronto, a city larger than Chicago in terms of population, and still have residence there. This is the latest remark on national live TV by the current mayor. It's too good not to share. Despite the fact that he says whatever is on his mind and is not tactful, nobody can argue that he has done great things for that city, like saving taxpayers in the hundreds of million$ by taking away limos, club memberships and other perks from government officials, and forcing them to use their own money to pay for work expenses, and many other changes, and then using some of the savings to offer taxpayers a break, like free vehicle registration and other benefits. Too bad all these good deeds are up against his other notable problems. Maybe he can work for SNL. Just wanted to share this tid bit as the media always fails to present a balanced and fair story :-)
