Well according to the weather for apple valley, 92308 (http://www.weather.com/weather/5-day/Apple+Valley+CA+92308:4:US), the lows are going to be pretty low overnight. Also, the daytime highs probably won't be all that high either. I wish it was just slightly warmer than that forecast is predicting because it's downright hot here in LA. It's never a bad time to visit though. I've even gone down during a two day period of snow showers- that was awesome!
The only reason I asked about the road condition was this from the DOT:
"SR 173
[IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA]
IS CLOSED FROM 2 MI EAST OF HESPERIA /AT LAKE ARROWHEAD RD/ TO 8.6 MI WEST
OF THE JCT OF SR 189 /AT RIFLE RANGE RD/ (SAN BERNARDINO CO) 24 HRS A DAY
7 DAYS A WEEK - DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN
ALTERNATE ROUTE"
Is that just referring to the portion between the gate and the PCT "trailhead"?
