Hi all--
My girlfriend's sister, brother-in-law, and my girlfriend's 7-month-old nephew are coming to town to visit in the near future. I was thinking that taking them all to DCHS might be fun, but there are concerns about whether a baby at the hot springs is a good idea. Does anybody have any thoughts on -- or any experience with -- infants at the hot springs? I'm guessing the anniversary pool would be WAY too hot to dip an infant into, same goes for the crab-cooker, and for the Arizona pool. But might the womb pool be OK (and how appropriate would it be to dip a baby in the *womb* pool!)?
We don't want to rotate a baby-holding person outside the pools, as at this time of year it can be a wee bit chilly outside the pool, especially if you're recently wet from being in the pools. But sitting in the pool, and holding the baby for an occasional gentle dip . . . does this seem like a bad idea to people or an OK idea?
Can anybody post some ballpark temperatures that each of the pools tend to have? Might be helpful to know exactly how hot the water we're talking about is. Might make the difference between happy baby and boiled baby (tastes great with sauteed onions!).
And if this is an abjectly horrible idea on my part, feel free to say so. I have no experience with babies at all, so I'm fully aware that I really don't know what I'm talking about in this area.
Thanks in advance for the info!
Joel
[EDIT]: PS -- any reason for concern, regarding bacteria in the pools vs. an infant's less-than-full-power immune system?
