I should have said "playing with my app". I just used my previous generation iPhone in a $7.99 REI waterproof pouch with the ProCam app which arguably is the best $1 I ever spent on software :-) My "real" camera is a D700 though I picked up a few years ago, just way too bulky and too much equipment for hiking. There already is a 1 oz HD head video camera on the market and it's fairly cheap; give it a few more years and it will be the size of a pin. Makes capturing video very convenient.
Thanks I took two days off work, kind of a reminder that you're on your own if anything happens down there, unless you can find someone to carry you out or opt for an airlift.
