Jobe the odds maker, your crackin me up, but I agree too :-) I do generally hold my nose when I go underwater in the hot pools, and sometimes I do this in the creek to if I'm just going under for a quick dip. The way I look at it, there is one case over many decades attributed to this organism at DCHS, and even that case based on the info I've seen makes it very questionable if that person even got it there. I think my odds are very good ( I'd bet 100 percent ) that I'm gonna croak from something else than an ameoba brain bug :-) But if it does get me, try not to laugh to much :-)
