I always get drinking water either from the Crab Cooker hot water source, or at the Arizona Pool where its hot water source first comes out. I've never had any problems at all doing this. I would not get drinking water from anywhere else at DCHS though. That way you only need enough water to provide your needs for the hike in, and just fill a couple of your bottles from the sources for your hike out. Really saves alot of pack weight, especially in the hot summer when you drink alot :-)
