Yes! Thanks Wizard, just googled the great blue heron and that is the bird I saw. Flew over the springs a few times during the afternoon, reminded me of watching pelicans fly near the coast. I first saw the herons while hiking down, they were flying below me in the canyon when I was higher up still and I could tell it was a bird I did not know and it was beautiful. I really should have hiked off yesterday and spent the day on my own up creek but hope springs eternal. Especially at the hot springs.
