About fire permits you can click on the forest service web site below on this page to get info on them.
As you enter the freedom trail head parking lot you are going east. So on the right side would be south.
No Forest adventure pass is required there. That should be clear but IS NOT on their web site. If that is a question call them at the phone # there. As for me I will have my adventure and pass on their pass. If they do not like that they can kiss my a??.
