Just came from the springs. The 6 bags I left on 05/25/2013 were still there by the sign on the pool side of the creek. Somebody added more trash so the bags became too heavy to take out. I made 9 out of 6 and double bagged some of them. Throughout the day I collected 14 more bringing the total count to 21 but since some people were taking them, there have been only 12 left + 2 torn sleeping bags + 1 blanket. I ran out of bags so I left the sleeping bags and the blanket in the open. The area upstream from the pools was not too trashy after my Saturday’s visit so I ventured to the area downstream. It was not too bad. I only collected 2 bags in there. The Bowen Ranch side of the creek is pretty trashed though. I can easily collect 12-15 bags.
A nice couple who pledged to carry the bags from the sign to the BR side of the creek left without fulfilling the pledge… bummer…I treated them with some nice beers. By the time I realized the deceit I was pretty exhausted and could not physically carry the bags across the creek.
I brought a marker to make a makeshift sign telling people not to add more trash to the bags and carry them out but could not find a suitable surface. If you are coming in the next couple of days please bring a marker and a sheet of paper or cardboard.
I complimented a couple of guys carrying out their trash on my way down. Well, one of them tossed his bag from the cliff . It’s there in plain view but too steep to reach safely. I hope the trash eventually going to make it all the way down when we can pick it up easily.
Overall, it was a good day considering it was a Memorial Day. The crowd was lively and very noisy. It’s not the day to seek solitude and tranquility. My gratitude goes to whoever installed the flag and to whoever carried the trash.
There was a customary dog fight and customary screaming sessions .
