Torrey Pines State Reserve ... just a few miles down, is a great place to hike as well (photo below). Next weekend they are hosting an arts festival. They do enforce a "no food" policy and that includes juices so you are only allowed to bring water, preferably in a reusable container which they sometimes sell near the trails and offer refills. One advantage of this policy is that there is zero garbage along the trails. Wouldn't that be nice at Deep Creek.
