Sam, I don't know if anyone has been assigned permament replacement to Brad Burns. But hopefully the authorities can step up enforcement of the no camping rule at the springs.
Clearly guns and hot springs don't mix. A while back I was at Big Caliente Hot Springs in the hills behind Santa Barbara. Little did I know deer hunting season just opened. As I was walking the short distance to the creekside pools upstream, I heard gunshots very nearby. Turns out a hunter was shooting at me from afar and thought I was a deer! That's the closest I've been to being killed. He apologized, but I was pissed off and lectured him a bit about gun safety (ie be sure you know what your target is before shooting etc).
