When I first went to the springs many, many years ago, I had a similar experience. I learned very quickly that it is much preferable to get naked at the beach and wade across the creek no matter how cold it is. The momentary rush of coldness disappears once soaking in the hot water. This is much safer than risking a fall across icy rock crossings.
