I would consider it a blessing that you have what sounds like traditional keys so hopefully the replacement cost is reasonable. I found out the hard way of what it costs to replace a smart key after I lost mine many months ago ... just over $400 not including shipping and waiting time for them to program and have it sent from Germany. The dealer told me they use propriety technology so it needs to be re-issued by the manufacturer. The real kicker is that if I was to submerge them, I believe it would damage the electronics inside. Just seems ridiculous how technology can make the simplest of things vulnerable. I remember I used to be able to check the oil level in the past using a traditional stick. Not any more. The computer takes care of that ... same goes for steering and brakes ... all drive by wire. Sigh.
On a side note, passed through the area last weekend but unfortunately didn't hike to DCHS as I'm fighting off the latest flu bug and didn't have the energy to hike. We ended up in Vegas and the temperature was the same as in Victorville. We also stopped off for lunch at Paulina's Mexican Grill across the highway from Victor Valley mall. Very impressed with the quality of food there.
