Tom, the USFS rule is no overnight camping within 1 mile either side of Deep Creek. If you are hiking in by way of the Bradford Ridge trail, about 20-25 minutes down the trail you hit a couple of small valley areas before the last drop into the Deep Creek Canyon, and those spots may be a good place to set up your camp for the night. Its San Bernardino Forest lands up there. You could also call the Sky Forest Ranger Station which is up close to Lake Arrowhead to inquire about any current restrictions for camping in the USFS land. Right now there is snow cover in the hills in those elevations and that still may be the case when you go, but on the other hand there is a warm up coming so the snow may also melt off by the time of your camping trip. Ask the ranger station also if HWY 173 has been graded of snow down to the point of the Bradford Ridge Trailhead at the Kinely Creek bridge. Good luck :-)
