Dear mp,
let us take your philosophy a little further. Since not every tax paying citizen uses the public library system, should we then start charging a user fee to only those that do? or how about local city parks? The concept of pay to play is a stiky one.
Next the Forest Service budget has been cut, and in fact in Bush's latest budget he cuts them by $174 million, when fee demo in 2000 grossed only $35 million nation wide. What we have going on is a plan which will make the forest service so desperate for money they will take it from anywhere. Then the corporations will step in and begin to manage facilitiews on public land and charge us fair market value for entrance. Is this the future you want? Well it is the future that the American Recreation Coalition, the ones who lobbied congress back in 1996 to implelment the fee demo program, have in store for us.
there is a link for free our Forests.org at the bottom of the forum page, do a little research and discover the truth!
