When he had that land one time he was clearing and cutting a bunch of " bushes " on his land, then he piled them all up and burned them. Unfortunately for Mike those bushes were poisen oak, and he had to go to the hospital because of his exposure to it while cutting and breathing the smoke. He said it was so painful that he cried at night. Poor Guy :-(
He probably also had vomiting, headaches and fever. We usually prescribe a healthy dose of prednisone and a taper of steroids. They should have given him some pain killers. It can be life threatening.
This reminds me of an incident. In late high school, I was a boy scout chef at the summer camp. We went on an overnight excursion and one kid went to the bathroom in the bushes only to wipe himself with a few leafs, which turned out to be poison ivy. After all the teaching of how to spot those plants, he still did it. However, the story had a somewhat happy ending. We took him to the hospital and said he didn't mind the therapy that much, which essentially was having a nursing student regularly apply topical cream to his buttocks.
