For those that find DCHS too hot in the summer:
Arrived Friday afternoon just before 3 pm. There were about 15 cars parked in the dirt lot at the end of the road. Weather was in the low 70s with a cool breeze. Walked down the beach - very easy. On the way down, passed four college students headed back to the lot. I was following what appeared to be a very drunk man in jeans in a jacket smoking cigarette after cigarette.
On the beach, there were four nudists. One single man, a couple and a very drunk character (unrelated to the one above) walking from the volleyball area holding two beers who could have easily passed for Johnny Depp's character in Pirates of the Caribbean. As he passed, it was evident he was having a very vocal conversation with himself. There were also about six others in swim suits. I walked up and down the length of the beach and situated myself in the center. The beach area is relaxing and as you can see in the photos, although there were others on the beach, it's easy to seclude oneself. Did not go into the water, although it was cool ... and as seen in the photos as well, had quite a bit of growth floating around, which washed up on the shore as well. The birds easily outnumbered all other creatures. There was also one sea lion near the entrance.
Overall very relaxing and secluded, although the drunk man I followed in kept pacing up and down the beach for half the duration I was there. The Depp character turned out to be quite friendly. He subsequently was enjoying a game of frisbee with some teenagers that came down later - he was the last nudist left, everyone else was in a bathing suit. Everyone seemed to keep to themselves and appeared friendly. The only thing is I was bitten a few times by small ants that seemed to be everywhere.
Overall, an easy place to access from the parking lot and not too difficult to find a secluded spot to relax. This aside, my favorite is still Secret Cove. However, will see how today is with the weekend crowd. I'll land myself near the volleyball net, which seems to be where the friendly crowd gets together.
A few photos and a short video - uploaded quick without much effort - but enough to provide at least a visual:
