Jenny who heads the Friends Of Juniper Flats group sent me this observation and bit of advice on the graffiti problem being discussed here at the DCHS Forum:
" I have just read some posts about graffiti on the Goat Trail and Bradford trail.
I have been working on the graffiti on the PCT from the Mojave Dam in.
I use a rock to get the graffiti pecked or scraped and then cover it up with mud (clay type). It is the only thing that will be cheap enough and work as a deterent.
I am interested in getting people to report the graffiti problem to the Sheriff dispatch, the USFS etc. Some of it is gang related and will lead to turf wars and bigger crimes. I think it is well past time to get rid of the problem and not let it get worse.
I am not going to log into the forum because I rarely go to the hot springs. The thread came up on a google search "gang graffiti deep creek Ca"
Someone posted using acid. Hm. Not very environmentally friendly.
Basically, more people calling in the faster and better attention we will get. "
