Windsailor, well put... and your concern is shared by me and many others. In fact, one of the reasons for forming the loosely knot Deep Creek volunteers a few years ago was to strengthen our relationship with the forest service. Many of the regulars who post here have discussed the illegal camping issue and other problems with forest service personnel, in particular Ranger Brad Burns, over the years. Brad has been somewhat responsive, but he and his agency do not have sufficient resources, ie. time, money, and manpower to really enforce the no camping rule. I've been told by an activist friend of mine that Brad Burns has been informed recently on numerous occasions regarding the illegal campers. So I think interested hot springers are doing what they can to bring the problems to the attention of the Forest Service.
I think we all agree that no one wants to see Deep Creek public access shut down or the springs destroyed in any way.
