infraredz, the high fecal coliform count has been well documented for the hot springs. The Forest Service has tested it. And think of it logically- all these soakers, whether nude or not, are going to have varying degrees of cleanliness emanating from their rectum. Even small particle size fecal matter will cause a problem. That's one reason why the Japanese have got it right- you have to shower and clean up before you enter an onsen (hot spring).
