Not sure where this Pothole Dome is but in the fall (15 months ago) we were in Yosemite and walked to the top
of Sentinel Dome. Sentinel Dome is out the Glacier Point road past the ski area & several miles before Glacier Point.
Maybe the best viewpoint in the whole park!
Purely by chance we became part of an international rescue mission. A slightly overweight 30'ish lady from Holland had just slipped
on a gravel covered off-camber area of the trail over a large granite rock. She slid maybe 10 feet sideways twisting an ankle
very badly and did not want to walk. A guy from Australia and one from Belgium could not get signals on their smart phones.
My crummy dumb phone on Verizon did get a very weak signal & I called dial 911 for help. Others from UK & mostly countries other than the US
stopped and helped make her comfortable. One guy even ran the mile back to the road to get Motrin pain pills from his car.
The only doctor in the house was a pediatric optometrist from southern California. He helped along with us.
One guy from UK came by, seemed to really know the situation, He just said we were doing the right things (elevation, keeping patient
still & warm) and rapidly continued on. We met him later at the top of Sentinel Dome where he said he was an Orthopedic Surgeon in London
and was sure the ankle was broken. He did not want to get involved since he did not know US good samaritan laws &/or applicability to
foreigners. On the way down we met medics hauling her out on a stretcher.
