Re: Burning Man organizers asks BLM for 20,000 more Burners by 2016

Black Rock City was full to the brim this year for sure :-) The weather was excellent with only some stronger breezes Mon-Wedns which kicked up some dust but then the wind shifted from the southwest to coming in from the northeast and conditions were awesome the rest of the time. The Playa surface was perfect ( hard packed and very few soft patches ) this year which made for easy traveling on the bicycles and in the art vehicles. There was a big burn on Thursday of 22 good sized wooden art structures which lit up Black Rock City in a golden glow. On Friday at 4PM the Critical Tits womens bike ride began and I viewed the colorful parade as the biggest ever at Burning Man flood of bare breasted women came past the Center Camp with all of their beauty :-) Then also on Friday a very big Trojan Horse was pulled out towards the Man to its burn location by volunteer Black Rock City citizens in roman costumes. That was one heck of a Bon Fire! Just before there had been an immense and wonderful fireworks show at another location in the center of Black Rock City. A large area afterwards was cordoned off by Black Rock City Rangers because apparently some unexploded fireworks had landed on the Playa. On Saturday near sunset I found a wooden bench out by the Man ( looked like someones art project ) and sat there and watched the scene go from a small amount of people milling about then growing hour by hour as the thousands of people most colorfully lit with night lighting of various sorts came flooding out of Black Rock City to congregate around the Man for the big burn. There were myriad art vehicles of all sizes that form a gigantic ring around the Man outside of the people. You really have to see it to appreciate how amazingly huge it all is in scope:-) On Sunday a structure refered to as The Temple was burned and this year it was the largest art structure ever built at Burning Man, compromising a footprint of 45,000 sqaure feet and it was 120 feet tall. There were these wires attached to parts of it which actually made for a working Harp like intstument that was played by its creator at differant times througout the week. It sounded very etheral and I caught a session of its playing at sunset on Friday while throngs of yoga type people went through various poses and meditations while being quided by a woman above them near the Harp. I got some cool pics of that, and of lots more of the goings on at BM too. I will begin posting the photos pretty soon. It will take some time as I am currently on dial up but I'll keep adding to the collection as the days roll by :-) It was a fantastic time at Burning Man 2011 and I am still enjoying all of my memories from this years BM extravaganza :-)
