I've recently learned of this seemingly magical place called Deep Creek Hot Springs. It has truly captured my imagination, and can't wait to make my first visit!
I've been reading all I can about this place, and what makes it tick. The people posting on this forum seem like nice, fun-loving folks, who would be great to get to know better.
Before venturing out on my first trip here, I have a couple of concerns/questions:
1) How difficult is the creek crossing this time of year? I'm assuming that there is still a fair amount of run-off, causing it to be higher now that at other times of the year.
2) I stumbled across an article posted several years ago talking about a very rare but sometimes fatal disease found at the Springs. Is this or should this be cause for concern? What precautions if any should be taken to reduce risk?
3) What should be done if Mr. Castro is not around to collect his "fee"? Is it OK to go in and pay later? One article said to honk your horn, regardless of time of day, to get his attention.
Thank you in advance for your time and responses to my questions.
