Ditto to your thoughts there Gary :-) Sam, You are doing an awesome job regarding all of your volunteer work cleaning up at DCHS, along the Bowen Ranch Trail, etc. Also I think your good will and obvious caring for these special springs is a definite encouragement to other visitors. Your trip reports are quite informative and I think your information about where trash you bagged has been put is conducive to other caring visitors also pitching in to help carry out some of the trash you have gathered, and even doing a little clean up down at DCHS too. Its still a shame that there are a lot of people who still degrade the beautiful environment at DCHS with their careless behavior and acts.

And sam regarding that topic you are concerned about posting ( #2 ), perhaps Paul will know if its something that could be problematic or negatively affect the status of DCHS and maybe should not be discussed here. On the same subject, I personally never leave my TP and put it in a plastic bag, then I put it with any other trash I have collected to be disposed of at home ( this is what I do in any outdoor setting ). The thing is rodents or other animals will very commonly un-earth deposits leaving the TP on the surface in the end anyway. As far as the creek water having bacteria levels high enough to cause anyone the trouble you mention, I would tend to think that there is still enough fresh water flowing down the stream and through the creek pools past DCHS to keep things flushed out. I think its a fact that the levels of problem bacteria do increase in the slower flow hot late summer months at DCHS. With the increasingly heavy summer visitation to these springs human waste is becoming more of a problem. Kinda makes one wish a huge flood like we had last winter season would come through every year to scrub the creekbed and surrounding shoreline on a regular basis :-)
