I'm happy to hear Paul that you feel the NAC folks are optimistic about how things are developing. They really do God's work, as the saying goes. I miss reports from Allen Baylis on things. I'm sure he is being strategic in playing his cards close to his chest (the Friends of SOB website hasn't had a news update since October 2010). Anytime I go down to San Onofre, and see the nudists pushed out on to Pendleton, and see the emptied old beach, and see the condition of things, decaying and not being cared for, I get pessimistic.
It would be great if the DPR would reinstate the Cahill Policy; it would be super great if they would make official nude beaches out of places like Blacks, San Onofre Trail 6, Bonny Doon, Red Rock Beach, etc. I grew up on beaches like Sandy Hook in NJ and Lighthouse Beach out on Fire Island, and they have official signage, and lifeguards, Sandy Hook has concessions on the nude beach--beer! hot dogs!--all great things. I like the "wild" California beaches, and they should stay that way, but the double speak on nude beaches has to end.
I hope we can get some momentum as users of San Onofre to push back, return in groups, take back the old beach.
