I agree with all of your statements above, except this one. From the t-6 crossing upstream about 2 miles are springs, hundreds of them. About 1 mile past that is highway 18, the main through way for the area. You can see all of this on Google earth. Well, not the water coming out of the ground but the trees and bushes that are the result thereof.
I have hiked up there numerous times and it is a beautiful area. The water comes out of the ground on the sandy beaches there and right out of the rocks in some places. On the way back to you car there are several large and deep pools to swim/play in.
Also, according to the maps and locals the creek there is called Hook creek. Deep creek merges with Hook creek about 1 mile down stream from the T-6 crossing.
