I agree and understand the point. One still has to deal with the inconvenience of having to make a defense. That's all I'm saying.
To clarify the T-6 crossing is located on Deep Creek behind Cedar Glen. Hook Road runs down to the Creek and comes to a T junction. (To the left is what is called Splinter's Cabin and the 90 foot Steel Bridge that the PCT Crosses. This is 8 plus miles above the Hot Springs.) To the right is the jeep trail to Crab Flats Campground on the other side of the Creek. Where this road crosses Deep Creek is called the T-6 crossing and is several miles of creek further upstream. I had this discussion with Ranger Burns a couple of years ago. He went on to state that it doesn't matter where T-6 is, the principle is that nudity is allowed in the SBNF as long as you are covered within 1/4 mile of a populated area. This is where your judgment and discretion come in. This is where the local jurisdiction comes in you speak of...and I think we're basically saying the same thing and you and I are in complete agreement about the rules. They protect our usage of the forest. If you want an eyeopener just hike to Fawnskin up the PCT from the Hot Springs. It's about 30 miles or so through the Holcomb Creek area. The Butler Fire devastated a huge area and left it a burnt char. I for one want to keep the Hot Springs from looking that way. Thanks for your advocacy Paul.
