With the Bradford Ridge trail, I knew the elevation differance from parking to DCHS was very similiar to hiking to DCHS from the Bowen Parking area ( around 1000 feet ), but the Bowen Ranch trail basically only descends from parking to the springs, whereas on the Bradford Ridge Trail you go up and down several times while it follows Kinely Creek in the initial 25-30 minutes of hiking until this trail finally does its final descent to DCHS. This up and down means your actually climbing uphill ( or downhill ) more than 1000 feet. GPS devices usually have features that can tell you just how much accumulated elevation change you have done on your hike.
