Sad to hear about all of that trash at DCHS. That place is so beautiful it should be treated like a sanctuary. Speaking of rattlesnakes I put up a new photo last night ( also one of a cute little Desert Tortoise I came across ) at my Flickr photo site which you can check out at the Wizard's pictures link below or go to: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35054303@N00/?saved=1
You can see how amazingly well these Southwestern Speckled Rattlesnakes blend with their surroundings. I came very close to another one on the same hike which had a different skin color of brownish orange which hid it very well in the brownish grass it was laying in as I walked up. That one slid very quickly down the hill in my direction so I moved over to the side and it went into a large crevice so I was not able to get a photo since it all happened to fast for me to get my camera out of my backpack. Like Sam said you really have to " !!!Watch out where you plant your feet!!! " So far this year I have seen six rattlesnakes. Last year throughout the warmer months I saw around a couple dozen of them.
