A Riverside teen who jumped from a 20-foot rock into Deep Creek struck his head before landing in the water, prompting a helicopter rescue Wednesday.

The 17-year-old boy lost consciousness when he hit his head.

San Bernardino County firefighters flew to creek, near Lake Arrowhead, after receiving a call about 5 p.m.

Personnel hovered about 100 feet above the victim in a helicopter while firefighters on the ground gave the teen medical treatment.

They hoisted the victim to the aircraft and flew him to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he was treated for a deep cut to his head, along with neck and back injuries.
