I too was there 6-3-11 but not as early as you (too bad I didn't see your post earlier; I would have made a point of getting there earlier). Hiked nude in and out from Bowen Ranch. It was a beautiful and peacefull day. It was my first trip back there this year and it seems like several of the trees are now gone.
